OUR CHARITY PARTNER

For 2019 we have chosen West Sutton Little League as our charity partner, fully run by volunteers they do an amazing job in helping the youngsters of the community.

They will be collecting throughout the day so please be generous.

West Sutton Little League (WSLL) was established in 1974 with around 100 boys playing at Sutton Common Recreation Ground and after a fire at the pavilion we moved to Collingwood Recreation Ground for a number of years before settling into our current home at Cheam Park.

The league now has in excess of 600 boys & girls enjoying their football every Saturday morning. We currently have 9 leagues with playing ages from 7 through to 14.

The Little League concept is to provide an environment where all children can enjoy themselves and learn to enhance their football skills and we encourage children of all abilities. Whilst the competitions provide an environment where winning is rewarded, our ethos is much more on sportsmanship, camaraderie and fun, this is the foundation stone on which our sportsmanship award is made.

WSLL is affiliated to The National Little League organisation (our parent body) and also Surrey FA. WSLL gained charity status in 1991.

WSLL also encourages the development of a wider network of friends, through its long standing exchange visits with Robur Et Velocitas in Apeldoorn, Holland. The trips having both a football and social angle to them.1980 saw the first exchange visit by 40 boys in our Premier League to Robur et Velocitas, In 1981 we invited Robur to bring three teams to Sutton and arranged a tournament for them, inviting several other Little Leagues to join in. These trips have now become an established and eagerly anticipated feature of our calendar.

WSLL as a youth organisation is a vital part of the local community, is run solely by volunteers and is reliant on fundraising events and donations.
